The Dream

​

Abbas & Ismat Gabula have been working for the betterment of society in various spheres, Abbas primarily in education and Ismat in the medical field. Together they have a vision to improve Literacy and Education in India and have launched the Gabula Foundation to bring their vision to life. Their first initiative under the aegis of Gabula Foundation, Project Smiles was started in August 2021 and Library4all was launched in February 2022. Through all of their personal and professional pursuits, Abbas and Ismat operate with immense gratitude and are singularly focused on helping people - they believe that the most meaningful life is one spent helping other people succeed.

Abbasali Gabula

Abbasali Gabula completed his MBA from IMD Switzerland and Mechanical Engineering from VJTI. He went to school at Bombay Scottish Mahim.

Reaching the age of 65 in May 2022 he has superannuated from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s SPJIMR after working there for 21 years.  His primary role had been placements of the graduates of the reputed MBA institute. He continues to be associated with the Institute supporting the Alumni Relations Office and setting up the Development Office.

Abbas has been a long time supporter of Abhyudaya. This is a program run by the Institute which mentors school-going kids around the Andheri SPJIMR campus. Abbas also has been sponsoring college education for students via MESCO

Prior to joining SPJIMR, Abbas ran his own business for 10 years. He is on the Board of Directors of his family business Zenith Tins (est.1938) which manufactures tin containers. Abbas is also Trustee of Zenith High School in Vadodara (est.1952), which serves 3,865 students.

Dr. Ismat Gabula

Dr. Ismat Gabula is a Radiologist having graduated from Seth G.S. Medical College & K.E.M. Hospital, Mumbai. After receiving advanced training in ultrasound from The Royal Marsden Hospital, England Dr. Ismat pursued Clinical Sonography in private practice in Mumbai.  She moved to work for the underprivileged at Sahara Medical Centre in 2006. Since retiring from clinical practice in 2018, she has initiated BSE for Life, a program to promote Breast Health Awareness. Being very passionate about women taking care of their health, Dr. Ismat has developed BSEforLife and gives talks on the subject.
